Hey there,
I’m Hannah!

My mission for Searching for Sacramento is to show you all the fun, wonderful things that Sacramento has to offer; in its own right. Most people think of Sacramento as a stopover to get gas and snacks on the way to Tahoe or San Francisco, not realizing all the gems this growing city has to offer.

As a resident of the Sacramento area for 20+ years, I’m familiar with all the attractions, year-round events, and best places to eat. And I want to share that with you.

I was born in the Philippines, moved to the Bay Area as a toddler, and lived there for 9 years before my family and I uprooted to the Sacramento area (specifically, Elk Grove, one of the suburbs here). It was in Sacramento City College where I met my sweetheart, Cecilio, before he transferred to UC Davis and I to Sac State. Since then, we got married at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Midtown, and we live in a quiet neighborhood with our dogs, Aris[totle] and Liara.

Almost every travel guide or post about Sacramento starts with, “Sacramento, the capital of California, may not be as visited as San Francisco, Los Angeles, or San Diego…but it’s an underrated city you have to visit!” And I’m here to change that narrative that Sacramento is worth visiting on its own, without mention of other cities.

Sacramento is filled with rich history from the Gold Rush era, delicious eateries (we are growing as a top foodie city in the US!), a robust art scene, and access to stunning nature spots where you can hike, swim, paddle, bike, and kayak.

Now I’m not going to pretend that everything is sunshine and rainbows here; it gets HOT during the summer, like up to 110°, so be prepared to scorch! But no city is perfect. You don’t have to search too far or dig too deep to find some of the best things to do here.

So what do you say? Come along and join me to experience everything Sacramento has to offer!
